From 100-plus presentations to nearly 80 exhibitors, from award ceremonies to university academic presentations, attendees at RadTech 2018, set for May 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare near Chicago, Illinois, will have plenty to see and do.

The expo and conference will offer academic educational opportunities in undergrad- and graduate-level polymer chemistry and a course on Design of Experiments.

Awards will be presented for creative, original posters by students that tout the benefits of UV/EB. The 2018 Emerging Technology Awards also will be given out at the event. Past winners include Carbon 3D, Ford Motor Co., Pepsico, Cleveland Steel Container, Gecko Biomaterials, Cambrios Advanced Materials and Gillette-Procter & Gamble.

New exhibit theater, more educational opportunities

For the first time, RadTech will be building an exhibit theater on the show floor, which will allow people to attend an open forum of panels and presentations on the practical implementation of UV/EB technology. Sessions are set to include:

  • Trends in Inkjet/Digital Printing
  • The Future of UV-C LEDs
  • UV LED Chemistry
  • Food Processing and Disinfection
  • UV LED Mythbusters

Inkjet surface decoration short course added to program

A special short course on inkjet surface decoration from IMI’s Industrial Print Academy will be offered at RadTech 2018. With the rapid development of inkjet applications on products that include packaging, glass, textiles, footwear, flooring, home décor and containers, this course will offer techniques for process evaluation, optimization and implementation. The course will discuss crucial system aspects, as well as the successes and challenges of inkjet in the product decoration landscape. Key topics are set to include the transition to digital, surface properties, process requirements and ink selection.

Dr. Alan L. Hudd, director and founder of Alchemie Technology, Cambridge, United Kingdom, will present the course, which is suitable for engineers, product development staff, managers, business development/planning and marketing professionals.

RadTech 2018 adds photopolymerization research presentations

In a new collaboration, presentations from the Photopolymerization Fundamentals Conference, the premier scientific meeting for academic and industrial participants, will provide the latest research on novel and fundamental questions related to photopolymerization at RadTech 2018. Leading UV/EB researchers from six universities and the Air Force Research Laboratory will present their recent research on critical results and findings that may aid product development.
