Optrans and Marktech Release New UVA (365 nm, 395 nm) and Near UV (405 nm) LEDs

Press release submitted on behalf of Optrans.

Optrans Corporation, in partnership with Marktech Optoelectronics, Latham, New York, has introduced new ultraviolet and near-ultraviolet LEDs at 365 nm, 395 nm and 405 nm. These additions provide OEMs and design engineers with expanded options for curing, fluorescence, forensics, disinfection and NDT inspection. The new UV LED products offer high optical power output in a cost-effective, molded-through-hole package.

New Products:

  • Optrans USFZ366C5 (Marktech MTE3660C1-UV) No Shoulder
  • Optrans USFZ366C1 (Marktech MTE3660C5-UV) Shoulder for positioning3 mm and 5 mm water-clear 365nm UVA LEDs delivering high brightness and exceptional reliability for demanding applications. Typical uses include:
    • Deep curing of adhesives, inks, and coatings
    • Fluorescence excitation in non-destructive testing (NDT-FP), mineralogy, and document validation
    • Forensics applications, such as detecting trace bodily fluids and other evidence
    • Specialized uses in reptile and aquatic research

New 395 nm UVA LEDs

  • Optrans USF395N1 (Marktech MTE3950N1-UV) – Round lens
  • Optrans USF395N2 (Marktech MTE3950N2-UV) – Flat lens

These versatile 395 nm emitters are ideal for general-purpose curing, 3D printing, hobbyist projects, counterfeit detection and household inspection (blood or body fluid contamination, pet stains). The visible purple glow allows users to track curing progress with ease.

New 405 nm Near-UV LEDs

  • Optrans VSF405N1 (Marktech MTE4050N1-UV) – Round lens
  • Optrans VSF405N2 (Marktech MTE4050N2-UV) – Flat lens

405 nm sits at the edge of the visible spectrum, enabling deep penetration into adhesives, resins and biofilms. These LEDs are particularly effective for:

  • Cationic polymerization and oxygen-inhibition resistant curing
  • Thick coating, adhesive, potting compound and 3D resin curing
  • High-gloss, tack-free finishes in inks and coatings
  • Continuous disinfection of occupied spaces, with reduced impact on skin and eyes compared to deep UV wavelengths

Overview of Applications by Wavelength

  • 365 nm: Deep curing, fluorescence inspection, document validation, forensics, mineralogy, reptile health and non-destructive testing.
  • 395 nm: Versatile curing, 3D printing, counterfeit detection, hobbyist/crafting and household inspection.
  • 405 nm: Deep and thick curing, cationic polymerization, advanced surface curing and visible-light-based disinfection.
