Company leaders from Miwon Specialty Chemical USA, Inc., Columbia, South Carolina, welcomed stakeholders and community allies to the recent grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest manufacturing facility in Richland County, South Carolina.
The 65,000-square-foot plant establishes the South Korean-based company’s first US manufacturing site and 13th global location. Located within the Pineview Industrial Park, the company is producing raw materials for inks, coatings, adhesives, photopolymer printing plates and dry film photoresists.
These formulations are cured by an eco-friendly process with exposure to ultraviolet light. These materials ultimately are used in a variety of everyday products that range from protective coatings on kitchen cabinets and furniture to wood floors, plastic coatings on flat screens TVs, computers, mobile phones and plastic bottles. They also are used on a variety of paper coatings from perfume boxes to dog food bags. 3D printing is also a rapidly growing application.
